Man of the match Jonathan Trott steered England to a formidable 8-299 in the first innings with 102 off 126 balls, before following it up with a handy contribution with the ball, claiming his first-ever one-day international scalps.
In reply to England's target, Michael Clarke's summer of woe continued, bowled for 15 by Paul Collingwood, while only Shane Watson and Cameron White posted any real resistance, before a spirited late partnership between Steve Smith (46) and Brett Lee (34).
Earlier, England looked on course for a massive 300-plus total after a great start from Matt Prior, but Steve Smith (3-33) and David Hussey (4-21) lead a recovery with some miserly spin bowling to stem England's flow of runs and snare career-best figures.
Relive all the action as it happened below:

All times EDT:
2215: It's all over, as England celebrate a 21-run win.
Australia finish on 7-278 - Smith and Lee have put on an entertaining partnership at the end and actually got Australia quite close. Too late, unfortunately. Australia's top-order let the side down today, and while one batsman has stood up for the side in other matches this series, no one could play that role tonight.
So both sides head to the Gabba for the fifth match on Sunday with Australia up 3-1 in the series. Join us again from 2pm (EDT) and we'll do it all again.
2211: FOUR! Good to see Smith hanging around here. He's played some unorthodox shots, but this four was a nice flick of the wrists through square-leg.
2210: CLOSE CALL! Lee should have been given run-out - he looks short on the replay, but no appeal, no referral, doesn't really matter, and we're getting on with the game.
2206: Brett Lee is saving face at the moment with a nice knock, but the game is just waiting to end. Another good crowd, 34 398, turned up today, so it's been a positive summer for one-day international cricket in light of doubts surrounding where it stands in the game.
2200: FOUR! Some sloppy cricket from Shazad, bowling down leg-side, which Prior can't get down to.
2155: FOUR! Lee is having a red hot go right at the death. He gets four off an outside edge off a full, yorker length ball from Anderson, which runs to the boundary, before rocking back and pulling one cleanly to the fence.
2154: Comedy capers from Steve Smith and Matt Prior. Smith should have bee run-out, but Prior fumbled, ran and botched the throw.
Speaking of comedy capers, Bruce Lindsay is calling for my call-up alongside 'my brother' David Warner. Now that's having a laugh!: Where is your brother David Warner? He deserves a run. Maybe even you. We could call you Warner Bros or Weiner Bros. They made some good cartoons but you would have a hard act to follow to top this hilarious joke we are currently watching.
David says: At least we're still up 3-1 in the series, Bruce! And as tough as this summer has been for the Aussies, I haven't scored enough runs in the backyard to warrant my call-up!
Mark Fletcheron asks: Is it possible for the selectors to change the squad?? They could try ferguson and chrisitian in the team...
David says: Sorry Mark, but we're down to the World Cup squad only now, plus Marsh, who is on stand-by for Michael Hussey. Selectors need to live and die by their squad now.
2147: FOUR! Lee is swinging hard without much luck, but does get a boundary with a nice cut over point. Anderson has been a big addition for England tonight, but bowls a bizarre attempted slower ball that ends up as a wide bouncer!
2140: Australia take the batting powerplay. Might have been more use with White in alongside Smith!
2128: WICKET! The wheels are falling off. Hastings gets a miserable top edge playing a pull shot off Anderson, putting up an old-fashioned up-and-under, which is caught comfortably by Strauss. Game well and truly over now.
2125: WICKET! Strauss looks like a genius for keeping Trott on. He'd never taken an ODI wicket before tonight, now has two, after White (44 off 64) picks out Yardy just as he looked to be cranking up the run-rate. Compare that to earlier tonight, when Clarke took miserly Hussey out of the attack and brought the quicks back on. It might prove the difference.
Australia need a miracle from here - 101 off 66 balls. AUS 6-199.
2118: FOUR! Smith thrashes Tremlett with an emphatic cover-drive, which Tremlett follows up with a wide. Smith starred with the ball earlier. Maybe tonight will be a breakthrough night for him? AUS 5-196.
2116: FOUR! Smith hits Trott for four with a swift pull shot. Two Twenty20 big guns in now with thirteen overs to go. Will their skills from the shorter form steer Australia to their target - 114 off 78 balls?
Here's a great example of how Clarke has polarised opinion this summer. These emails came within three minutes of eachother.
Lance and Sandra Pollock say: sorry but Michael Clarke will come good eventually.
But Steve Dries says: Enough is Enough , Clarke continues to fail and the public keeps turning up to witness. what are the selectors doing? watching Home and Away? I am afraid the selectors are refusing to notice his failures, Guys its time to move on , clarke out the door.
2108: WICKET! Trott has done a Hussey on Hussey, lulling him into a silly shot with his slow bowling. Hussey chipped a ball straight down Bell's throat at long-off. Steve Smith is in now, joining White. AUS 5-176.
2106: Jonathan Trott has been doing his best Collingwood impersonations with the ball and has been difficult to get away. White and Hussey are trying to keep the target within reach with singles.
2100: FOUR! White hits his first two boundaries, using his feet to loft it over cover both times. He's 34 off 51 and will need to keep things ticking over if Australia are to stay in touch. AUS 4-165.
2055: What was that? Yardy floats a full-toss that White thinks will be a no-ball and defends it, instead of giving it its due. Must have lost it in the lights.
2054: MISSED CHANCE! White should have been out stumped. Beaten by a quicker ball from Yardy, which whisked past Prior while White was well out of his crease. It looks like White knows he needs to up the ante.
Andrew Horgan thinks contracted players are too protected: If Captain Twit could concentrate on captaining and especially batting he may do a bit better. But regardless he has had far too many chances already and should be sacked. Again a problem with the Selectors especially Houdini Hilditch. But it ultimately comes down to the whole setup of Australian cricket where players are guaranteed contracts regardless of performance and we are then in the ridiculous position of even if they aren’t selected we still have to pay them!

Dave Lucas says: If we win this game it will be because of an individual performance. There is no batting consistency in this side. Sure we are 3 nil up, but Watson 1st game, March 2nd game and Hussy 3rd game got Aust over the line. Not looking good heading into the World cup. You only win the World cup through consistency of team performances. I’m over Haddin and Clark. Haddin is not doing the job at the top, just too inconsistent and playing shots he doesn’t need to play. I think Marsh and Watson is the go at the top. How can you keep picking clerk, get pain in there now. Question; why can’t a batsman be given out LBW if the ball pitches outside leg stump, what is the logic behind this rule?
Dave says: Haddin looks a bit under the cosh at the moment and Marsh has a pretty good record opening the innings. When Haddin gets it right, he's beautiful to watch. But he really threw away his wicket today, and has Paine breathing down his neck in the World Cup squad. We need more from him during the World Cup. As for your question, you got me there. As sure as night follows day, is that Richie says it can't be out because it's pitched outside leg! That's why!
2041: White is trying to back away so he can hoist the ball over the off-side field. Hits a lofted shot to long-off, which is superbly cut-off on the boundary by substitute fielder Luke Wright. Tries his luck again, and his mis-timed effort falls in between three fieldsmen. He looks a bit busy at the crease - and plays and misses twice off Tremlett in the next over.
2038: The run-rate required is nudging eight runs an over now. Hussey has tended to compile his runs quite slowly in the one-dayers so far this summer, so it'll be a good test for him and White. Hussey did go for $1.4million in the IPL auction, so this might be tailor made for a bit of quick-scoring!
2034: FOUR! Can always rely on KP to lighten things up for the crowd. Dave Hussey plays a front-foot pull - Pietersen ambled over on the boundary and instead of flicking the ball to his teammate, chucked it into himself and back into the boundary. A much needed four for Australia!
I think keith woolfenden agrees with Marinko: Carke.......in a word..............Hopeless.
Marinko says: The question I have is: why are Australia Cricket selectors afraid of sending Michael Clarke back to domestic cricket to improve him form and find the touch which currently eludes him?
David says: For better or for worse, he has been guaranteed his spot throughout the World Cup by Greg Chappell. The hope is he resurrects his career - but it doesn't look good at the moment, and it's not ideal going into the World Cup with such a key player in a key position so low in confidence. He was entitled to some credits after a couple of good seasons, but I dare say the answer to your question is simple - if he was anyone but the Australian Test captain-in-waiting, his credits would have dried up already this summer. The debate on foxsports.com.au has been fierce over the summer. He is certainly testing everyone's patience.
2019: WICKET! Shazad strikes back immediately. Watson is out, caught behind by Prior, for 64 off 72. Shazad responded with a shorter pitched ball and Watson flashed hard at it outside off-stump and got a nick. It will be an enormous effort for Australia to win from here, they have to up the run-rate, without loosing a wicket for a while. AUS 4-116.
2019: FOUR! Watson stands and delivers, firing Shazad down the ground.
2008: Things have really dried up now. Watson and White are batting cautiously, and Australia's run-rate is 4.77.
AUS 3-104.
1955: FIFTY! While his top order perishes around him, Shane Watson brings up another fifty. Great chance to get another big one. Cameron White is in with him now.
1953: WICKET! Clarke is bowled by Collingwood! 15 off 27 balls for the Aussie skipper, whose horrible trot continues. He'd tried so hard to keep the ball on the deck and protect his wicket, but Collingwood got some movement with his medium-pacers and Clarke simply played the wrong line. he will be kicking himself. The critics will be sharpening their knives.  AUS 3-92.
1951: And Collingwood's back on again. Strauss changing things frequently - and it seems to be working. Runs have dried up a little.
1940: Collingwood is given the hook straight away. Shazad back on.
1939: No secret with England's tactics here as Michael Yardy is on to bowl some of his left-arm spin. Good response by Watson and Clarke, picking the gaps and rotating the strike.
1934: FOUR! No problems for Watson though. Collingwood chucks in a wide one, and Watson eats it up, cutting for four.
1932: Collingwood is into the attack and it's probably a good move. There's no Graeme Swann in the side today, so Collingwood could play the Doherty/Hussey roll of taking the pace off the ball and bowling tight line and length.
1929: FOUR! Clarke is in on the act, playing a cute leg-glance off Tremlett. AUS 2-66.
1927: SIX! Watson looks a million dollars. Just caresses a Tremlett slower- ball into the stands over deep mid-wicket. He must be seeing the ball like a balloon, he's picking it up that early.
1921: FOUR! Watson goes over the top with consumate ease. He dispatches Shazad over both mid-on and mid-off in consecutive balls. AUS 2-55.
1921: England take their bowling powerplay. Will this tempt Clarke to go over the top? He's been very careful in his knock so far. He really doesn't want to be caught cheaply in the in-field for the fourth match in a row. England fielders are circling on Clarke's favoured off-side region. This will be interesting.
1917: Watson is flying under the radar at the moment with 18 off 28 and looks as solid as ever. Plays a nice shot flicking his wrists to grab a couple through square leg. On this pitch, he'll be looking for another big score. AUS 2-45.
1907: MASSIVE opportunity for Michael Clarke now. He has time to build an innings in good batting conditions. Look to what Trott did. He didn't offer any chances, played his way in and kept the scoreboard ticking over with ones and twos if the boundaries were not coming. Australia need him now, and has he had a more important knock for his own career? AUS 2-33.
1906: WICKET! Another soft dismissal; Marsh out caught and bowled to Anderson for just one off six. England made a great start and were pegged back, Australia will have to do the opposite.
1905: APPEAL! LBW shout against Marsh. Height was ok, but Anderson's ball was going down leg-side.
Nick Nazarenko stands up for Clarkey on Australia Day: Bill Bresnan. Who are nsw buddies, I thought we are Australians.Sick of hearing that crap. we are Queenslanders, we are Victorians. Is it Steve Smiths fault he made the breaks throughs in every game so far and gets taken of by his NSW / AUSTRALIAN captain. HAPPY AUSTRALIA DAY. Suck it up and support our team or go watch the Vic’s get smashed in the 20/20.
1900: WICKET! Haddin throws his wicket away lobbing a catch to Andrew Strauss at cover. He was all over the shop in this over against Tremlett, and is out for 20 off 16. It might have been a slightly slower ball, but it has to be called a soft dismissal. Another bowling change works in this match. AUS 1-32, with Shaun Marsh in.
1859: FOUR! Chris Tremlett is into the attack. Haddin gets a bit lucky - twice - trying to stand and deliver. One goes for four; the second is an inside edge onto the pads.
1853: FOUR! Anderson and Shazad aren't dealing with Haddin's movement in the crease. First, he dishes the same treatment to Anderson over mid-off, then slashes a cut-shot to the fence. Anderson gets it right third time, jamming the ball into Haddin.
1852: FOUR! Haddin advances and strokes Shahzad over mid-off for four. He has been trying to back away and create space to hit through the off-side, and after one swing and a miss, connects this time with a beautiful shot.
1845: CHANCE! Pretty steady, uneventful first three overs until Watson chips a full-ball from Anderson to deep mid-wicket, which drops just short of Morgan, who was diving forward at full-stretch. AUS 0-13.
1836: Welcome back, everyone. Australia's run-chase is underway, with Shane Watson and Brad Haddin at the crease. There's no Graeme Swann for England today, but James Anderson is back in and has taken the new ball.
Bill Breslin says: Dumb decision to bring Lee & Dougie back when Huss was doing the job. Clarkey again looking after his NSW mates. Time to get rid of the NSW guys in the commentary box who fail to call the game as it is, at least Heals sees the game in black & white…
David says: Clarke was mixing the bowling up quite well - but when the spinners were doing such a good job, you feel he probably should have stuck with them. On a good batting track, I think Collingwood and Morgan enjoyed Lee and Bollinger's pace during the final powerplay. Not so sure about protecting his NSW buddies - they were the attack spearheads today, but just were'nt that effective. I still love Lee's energy and enthusiasm, but today showed how important it will be during the World Cup to have variety and options should our all-out pace assault (Lee, Tait, Johnson, Bollinger) go astray. Hussey, Smith, Hauritz/Doherty will be crucial in the absence of a James Hopes-style player.
1800: England finish with 8-299 off their 50 overs, Michael Yardy not out with a handy 39. Australia will probably be satisfied with that total, especially after the early going. It looks a good batting pitch, so Australia should give themselves every chance of posting 300 to seal the Commonwealth Bank series. Maybe tonight is Michael Clarke's night to score some runs. We'll see in half-an-hours time.
Hope you've enjoyed the action so far this Australia Day. If you take a breather from you barbies and backyard cricket duties, drop us a line at blogs@foxsports.com.au and let us know your thoughts.
1758: FOUR! Yardy punishes Hussey with a straight drive. It's a bit of a game of cat and mouse between Yardy, moving all over the shop, and Hussey, firing them into the blockhole.
1755: WICKET! Clarke keeps Hussey on for the last over of the innings and now has 4-16. Shahzad gets a full-toss but wastes it, caught by Watson for four. ENG 8-294.
1748: WICKET! Dave Hussey does the trick again and has figures of 3-11. Collingwood tried to reproduce the exact same slog-sweep shot, but this time picked out White on the deep mid-wicket boundary and is out for a run-a-ball 27. What a performance from Hussey.
1745: FOUR! Hussey's back on and Collingwood doesn't care. He hits a low-trajectory slog sweeps the first ball, which Cameron White should've fielded, but fizzes past him for four.
1742: REFERRAL! Watson appeals for LBW against Collingwood. He advanced down the pitch and was a long way forward, and the point of impact was outside off-stump anyway. Strange move. Must have wanted to slow the momentum. Watson's next ball also brings an LBW appeal for a full-length ball, but this one pitched outside leg-stump. ENG 6-275.
1739: Clarke reacts as the runs start flowing again. It isn't a spinner, but it's Shane Watson. He's been expensive today, but he is Australia's bowler of choice at the death.
1734: FOUR! Points go to England during the batting powerplay. Yardy pulls Bollinger for four, then punishes a full-toss by dispatching to the boundary. Collingwood isn't missing out either, advancing down the pitch to hit another four. Clarke might want to bring the spinners back - they've been hard to get away on this pitch and the scorecard is ticking over again. Douggie throws a wide in to add to the over. He looks a little flustered. ENG 6-271.
1733: FOUR! Lee is bowling full and wide against Yardy, and the left-hander just has to throw his bat at the ball to run it to the boundary.
1730: SIX! Paul Collingwood has had a dismal summer, but he might enjoy this situation, coming in at No.7, where he can just have a swing. He uses Lee's pace to flick the ball over mid-wicket and into the Chappell Stands.
1725: FOUR! Yardy, with his Shiv Chanderpaul style movement across the stumps, hoists Bollinger for four over the third man area.  England will want to get a move on here, they've fallen well behind the pace to get to 300. The quicks are back on for the batting powerplay, but all three spinners - Doherty, Smith and Hussey - have all gone for under five an over. Hussey's figures - 2 overs, 2-3! Job done! ENG 6-243 with six overs to go.
1720: England take their final powerplay with Michael Yardy and Paul Collingwood in. Clarke takes off Smith, brings on Lee.
1716: This game has really changed on it's head. England might struggle to get to 300 now. An hour ago, we were researching the highest totals at the Adelaide Oval!
1715: WICKET!  Dave Hussey and his little darts have done it again! Morgan goes for 24 off 31 playing a ridiculous reverse-sweep straight down Brett Lee's throat. ENG 6-228.
1712: Steve Smith is back in the attack - spin has played a big part in this match so far. Hussey's wicket ball got a bit of turn back into the right-handed Trott. Hussey's bowling definitely gives him an edge in limited overs cricket. In just four balls he not only stymied Trott, but he was in such a hurry to bowl each ball, Trott, who likes his routine, was rushed. ENG 5-227.
1708: WICKET! David Hussey is into the attack and another Clarke blowing change reaps immediate rewards, with Trott chopping Hussey's fourth ball onto the stumps to end his terrific knock (102 off 126).
1700: CENTURY! Trott brings up his century off 117 balls. He played his way into the innings early, and has always looked to keep the scoreboard ticking over. Classy knock. ENG 4-221.
1658: We're in that middle stage of a one-day innings at the moment. Bollinger's last over went for a single off every ball. Morgan (18 off 27) and Trott (91 off 112) have brought up their fifty-run partnership - and done it with very little fuss.
1654: Eoin Morgan gets a top edge trying to pull a Bollinger short ball, but David Hussey can't quite get there.
1649: FOUR! Bollinger and Hastings in the attack after drinks. Trott advances and slaps big John down the ground for four as England bring up the 200 in the 36th over. ENG 4-202.
1640: Xavier Doherty has bowled his quota of 10 overs, finishing with 0-44. He came in when England were well on top and has played his part in stemming the flow of runs. ENG 4-192 at drinks.
Peter Garr has some more to say: Would also like to add that regardless of his batting form Clark is a far superior captain to Ponting, his field placings and use of his bowlers is a pleasure to watch after the childish antics of Ponting.
1637: FOUR! Talk about chopping and changing the attack - Smith is back on after one over from Lee. It goes for eight though, including a slog-sweep against the spin by Trott. ENG 4-187.
Peter Garr says: David, any ideas on why the ball is thrown to Smith to make the break throughs and when he does he immediately gets taken off after 2-3 overs. His economy rate seems good / reasonable. What’s the highest 50 over score at Adelaide in international level?????

Nick Nazarenko says: Smith with 3 for 17 looking a far better spinner than Doherty for mine, wonder if all those tools asking why Smith was in the team have finally got the message. That's 6 series wickets to Smith for hardly any runs and how many has Doherty got again?
David says: To be fair to Doherty, one of his big jobs in the one-day game is to be difficult to get away and to frustrate batsmen. He darts the ball in, and while he doesn't get great turn he gets the ball through quite quickly. It was never going to work in Test cricket, but this is a whole different ball game and the style has succeeded for him for Tasmania and Australia in recent times.
Why has he been taken out of the attack? Clarke has shown he likes to rotate his bowlers quickly, and Smith has done his job, I suppose, chiming in with a few vital wickets. Lee is the leader of the attack, so captain Clarke wants him to come on and tear through the middle order. But he has been expensive so far, and it's the first time the run rate has dropped below six, so this will be an interesting period to watch.

And Pete, West Indies scored 4-339 against Pakistan in January 2005, while Australia's biggest total is 329-5, against India in 2000. It was the Mark Waugh and Adam Gilchrist show that day. So there you go. I'll be here all day.
1615: WICKET! It's all happening here. Bell gets a fine edge trying to advance and glide a ball from Smith, but is beaten by the flight and turn and Haddin takes the catch. A duck for Bell off two balls - that's a huge wicket at this stage of the innings. Australia are right back in the game.ENG 4-159.
1613: WICKET! KP couldn't help himself. Smith was tempting him with nice flight, and Pietersen scooped a ball straight to Shaun Marsh at long-on, out for 12 off 13. ENG 3-158.
1605: FOUR! Clarke throws down the offer to Pietersen, bringing mid-on and mid-wicket up, and KP obliges, lofting Doherty to the boundary.
1602: Pietersen gets a generous (ahem) welcome from the Adelaide crowd. Two spinners bowling at the moment, will he go after them?
1600: WICKET! Bowling change works a charm. Prior cuts Smith straight to Doherty, and is out for 67 off 57.
1558: FIFTY! Trott brings up his 50 off 65 balls and has provided good support for the more aggressive Prior (67 off 57). Uses good footwork to cut Doherty into the off side.
1555: FOUR! It looks like fantastic batting conditions in Adelaide and at this rate, England are set for a huge 300-plus total. Xavier Doherty has done the best job at keeping things tight, and Clarke has brought Steve Smith into the attack in the hope that spin from both ends can keep things tight. He gets cut for one uppish four, which is just wide of the fielder, but a decent start.
1543: Doherty appeals for an LBW, but quickly turned down. Earlier in the over, Lee shows his commitment in the field, diving full length to stop a boundary.
1540: FIVE! Hastings does a Lee, bowling a ball down the leg side that goes all the way to the fence.
1536: England are on track for 300 runs at this rate. Xavier Doherty is into the attack. Can he stem the flow of runs? Only one off his first over.
1530: SIX and FIFTY! Prior responds, thumping a short ball into the crowd. Brings up his half-century, including seven fours and a six. An entertaining 55 off 41 so far. The aggressive knock vindicates the decision to open with him, despite Ian Bell's imperious touch at the moment.
1528: Boys are getting a bit fired up. Trott blocked a ball that stopped right on the stumps, he held his ground before Lee came steaming in, throwing a shoulder in as he tried to get to the ball. Meanwhile, Prior had charged through for a run, but amidst the shambles, the Aussies couldn't get the ball down the other end for a run-out. Digest all that? Good.
1525: FOUR! Prior flashes at a shorter ball from Hastings, ball flies over point.
1520: FOUR! Lee back into the attack, but Prior feasts on his pace and lofts him over cover. Lee recovers with a couple of good yorkers - but also throws a couple of full tosses in as well. Eight off the over. ENG 1-82.
1518: John Hastings is doing a good job trying to keep things tight at the moment. England have taken their powerplay and were going at 6.5 runs an over, but the tall Victorian is jamming it in just short of a length, varying his pace, and is hard to score off so far.
1508: Brad Haddin brands Trott on the back of the leg as he takes aim at the stumps during a risky quick single. John Hastings is into the attack. Tidy over.
1503: FOUR! Watson strays with another four ball; full, drifting onto the pads, and Trott gets in on the act. Nine off the over.
1456: FOUR! Things aren't so tight anymore! Prior is starting to show his Victoria Big Bash form. He dances down the pitch and lofts a sweetly-timed shot to the long-off boundary off Bollinger's first ball, drives the second ball for four, before showing the maker's name with a lovely straight drive off the fourth ball. 14 from the over. ENG 1-53.
1455: FOUR! Pressure valve released as Trott flicks one off his pads off the last ball of Watson's first over.
1450: Brett Lee has got his wicket but was going at eight an over. Bollinger has dried things up a bit with a consistent off-stump line and Shane Watson has been brought on to keep the pressure on Jonathon Trott (4 off 10) and Prior (16 off 16).
Jordan Oliver gets us off the mark today: Love the new Brett Lee. He’s bowling as fast as he was in his glory days with much more control.Good to have him in the team

David says: Couldn't agree more Jordan - you took the words out of my mouth. You get the sense he was loving that short duel with Strauss, who got an inside edge and played and missed two of the first three balls in that over. He has brought a much needed spark back into the side after the Ashes.
1435: WICKET! Lee gets Strauss caught behind by Haddin for eight off 10 balls. England skipper tried cutting a ball too close to him and is sent packing.
1430: FOUR! Doug Bollinger also takes the new ball, Prior hits glorious cover drive for four. ENG 0-19.
1425: FOUR! Matt Prior has been Brett Lee's bunny this series, out for two ducks, but he is off the mark with a boundary, whipping a full ball off the pads. Expensive first over. ENG 0-12.
1422: FIVE! Play is underway and it's an inauspicious start by Australia, with Brett Lee opening up with a wild loosener down leg side that went to the boundary.
1400: Today's teams:
Australia: Shane Watson, Brad Haddin, Shaun Marsh, Michael Clarke (c), Cameron White, David Hussey, Steve Smith, John Hastings, Brett Lee, Xavier Doherty, Doug Bollinger.
England: Andrew Strauss, Matt Prior, Jonathon Trott, Kevin Pieterson, Ian Bell, Eoin Morgan, Paul Collingwood, Michael Yardy, Ajmal Shahzad, Chris Tremlett, James Anderson.
1400: Andrew Strauss has won the toss and elected to bat on what looks like a cracking pitch.
1350: Afternoon everyone and welcome to foxsports.com.au’s live blog for the fourth one-day international between Australia and England at the Adelaide Oval.
David Weiner with you here today, hope you’re all having a great Australia Day!
We’ve already had a great day for our national sporting sides with the Socceroos getting up this morning in the Asian Cup, so let’s hope Michael Clarke and his side have some similar fireworks in store. The Aussie women played their part in exacting some Ashes revenge yesterday, and a win today could salvage some more pride this summer by sealing the one-day series with a 4-0 lead.
Looking forward to your company throughout the day, send emails through to blogs@foxsports.com.au.
